About

Will Peixoto is a Staff Engineer at Serverless Guru and writes about serverless, AWS architecture and AI agents: what he'd pick, why, and what it costs.

Hi, I'm Will. Glad you stopped by!

I work with cloud and distributed systems, today as Staff Engineer at Serverless Guru, AWS Community Builder (and AWS Certified). I'm passionate about serverless, AWS and event-driven architectures, and I'm deep into AI agents and how they're changing the way we build software. I also have a confessed soft spot for design patterns and architecture patterns: a good chunk of the problems we face, someone has already solved, tested and named. Finding the right pattern makes life a whole lot easier.

At its core, my job is one thing: take a business problem and turn it into architecture that scales, survives failure and doesn't blow the budget. And honestly? I have a ton of fun doing it.

What you'll find here

Serverless, AWS architecture and AI agents: what I'd pick, why, and what it costs. Most topics come from a technical problem I had to solve or something I had to explain to someone.

Architecture content in practice, the way I like it: with code, real examples and the decisions behind them. The topics revolve around:

  • Serverless and event-driven on AWS (Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, DynamoDB and friends)
  • Resilience, cost and the trade-offs behind every architecture decision
  • Design patterns and architecture patterns in the real world (Saga, Circuit Breaker, CQRS and friends)
  • AI agents, MCP and how AI is changing the way we build software
  • Best practices and tooling (I'm a fan of Lambda Powertools) and lessons from production

I write the way I wish someone had written for me when I started: straight to the point, with code, no fluff.

Community

Community is half the fun of this career. I'm one of the leaders of AWS User Group São Paulo and a co-organizer of ServerlessDays São Paulo. In October 2026 I was a speaker and mentor at the in-person workshop “Serverless + Agentic AI na AWS” by the Sem Servidor community in Florianópolis: I presented the core services (API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB) and LLMs with Amazon Bedrock, and led the hands-on where attendees built AI agents with Strands Agents running on AWS Lambda.

If you're getting started, want to talk career, or want a stage for your first talk, show up at a meetup and come say hi. I mean it, it'll be great to meet you.

Off the keyboard

I'm a dad of two, a boy and a girl who make sure there's never a shortage of events to process at home. And I'm a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt: the mats are where I decompress and, by far, the biggest humility lesson I've ever taken.

Where else I write

Besides here, I also publish on the AWS Builder Center and on dev.to. The original always goes up here on willpeixoto.dev.

BUILD. SCALE. REPEAT. =D
